Drimoleague Primary School joined the Active Flag initiative in September 2016. Our Active Flag committee have established a wonderful running circuit for break times. We are hoping to reach a marathon by the end of this school year. We have joined a host of schools in Cork and Ireland that are undertaking the same initiative to help encourage our students to be more active and to make healthier lunch and dinner options. The school encourages the children to bring healthy lunches to school in line with the ethos of the Active Flag initiative.
We encourage the children to partake in one hour of activity daily. As part of the Active flag project, we will be taking part in a school disco, a running initiative, a healthy eating programme, basketball and soccer leagues, as well as an Active Week which will include, walking, running, team sports, team building activities, dance and gymnastics.
The Active School Flag (ASF) is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools, more active, more often.
