We would like to express our gratitude to local West Cork Rapid Response volunteers who recently visited the school. During their visit the children learned about the vital work done by West Cork Rapid Response Volunteers and role of the Jeeps in provided emergency care to people in West Cork. The children were given the opportunity to look around the jeep and see some of the equipment.

6th Class Trip
Our 6th class pupils recently enjoyed a trip to Skibbereen to see the Bible exhibition in the West Cork Hotel. They also visited the Skibbereen Heritage Centre where they met Terry Kearney who spoke to them about the Great Irish Famine and they watched a video presentation about Lough Hyne. They finished off the day with a trip to the recently opened Windmill Rock. A big thank you to Ms. Casey and SNA Lyn who accompanied the children on the day.
World Mental Health Day and Green Schools Walk
World Mental Health Day took place on Thursday October 10th and as part of our celebrations all pupils and teachers took part in a walk in our locality. The Green Schools Committee also organised the walk to highlight the local walks in the area. We know the benefits spending time outside in nature can have on our mental health and everyone enjoyed heading outside on a sunny day in October. In the afternoon the children enjoyed playing board games with their classmates.
Drimoleague Singing Festival
We were delighted to take part in a singing workshop held over three days during the recent Drimoleague Singing Festival. The workshop was coordinated by the festival organisers and led by choir director Susan Mc Manamon. During the three days the children learned a variety of differences songs and on the Sunday performed before ‘Hot House Flowers’ at the closing concert. The children were delighted to get the chance to perform with Liam O’ Maonlaí who joined the children for a lovely version of ‘I can see Clearly Now’. We would like to say a big thank you the Drimoleague Singing Festival organisers, Susan Mc Manamon and Liam O’ Maonlaí for making it a lovely experience for the children.
