We were delighted to have had the opportunity to develop a creative space in the school as part of the Creative Schools’ Initiative. This wonderful idea came from, and was developed by our pupils, led by the school’s Creative Committee. A plan was devised and we collaborated with a garden artist to bring it to fruition.
Our Creative Space will be a place where we can go to ‘switch off’, disconnect and give ourselves time to be creative – be that through art, words or music, or simply to reconnect with nature. We will use this place for some learning also.

The plants for our Creative Space have been specially selected to include medicinal and healing plants ensuring that our space is truly a haven for mind and body!
Central to our Creative Space is a wonderful sculpture designed and built by children in the school. This sculpture tells the story of our local heritage, and what it means to be part of our community and what we can become, linking past, present and future. Each child decorated a stone which embellished our sculpture.
There has been lots of digging, planting, thinking and creating and we are nearly there! We hope to install some seating and benching to complete our Creative Space early in the new school year. Watch this space!
